The anorexic lounge of deflected thinking is a virtual space where the members of a mythical community of men and women, who suffer from Anorexic Nervosa disorder, meet to discuss topics of interest, including medical advances in the area of weight loss, how medical practitioners regard Anorexia and weight loss and the political issues surrounding Anorexia. In the Anorexic lounge weight control is the fundamental to one's health. Anorexics in the Anorexic Lounge speak glowingly of better health through weight control. They point to advances in liposuction and stomach reduction surgery as sacrosanct to good health. They opt for self diagnosis over that of medical doctors, who clearly do not understand the merits of such life saving procedures nor why one would not want to rid themselves of unwanted body fat.

On occasion a member of the Anorexic lounge misconstrues something he or she heard or saw in the newspaper. The individual forwards the misreported fact to the group, who are very receptive to the interpretation. Despite hearing clarification of what is meant, the misreported fact is perpetuated. Soon afterwards, a number of members of the community will advance other information that relies on the misreported fact and the misreported fact takes on a life of its own. As the group collectively reports information that relies on the misreported fact, the momentum behind the misreported fact, becomes so massive, the misreported fact turns into the undisputable truth.
